So I uploaded this as a curiosity and sudden realization

damn make-up. by Senju-HiMe

And my god, when I saw this afternoon the response, like 400+ comments? A hot debate I created about beauty, being natural or not. I kinda feel like a troll :la:

But on to the point,

Please, I just want to say before anyone jumps into conclusions, I am neutral on the matter.
I don't care if wearing make-up is good or bad, or makes you look better or worse.
I'm just stating the obvious; people can be transformed by make-up.

My purpose of this is to actually show make-up is another form of ART, and to me, being the most important tool in my work, makes wonders.
Sometimes being natural  is boring (NOT ugly I say), and my goal is to create characters that can't exist but are born and molded from my head to you by makeup. And they are not always beautiful, not to me. But I don't care.

I don't know if any of you get it, what I'm trying to say, or if it makes any sense.
But whatever, thought I had to say it. :)

thank you for everything.

Cristina

Very true! Makeup transforms, changes, and can be a potential for really, really beautiful artwork.

I think it's idiotic that people are going on with a debate (though, I do love debates, I won't lie).

Natural, Makeup, why does it matter?

BOTH ARE AWESOME! :D

we all put on masks of various sorts every day - the fact some of them are literally masks is the only difference. I don't see a distinction between this and different clothing preferences by situation.

I do see a lot of work - glad this is not a guy requirement :>)

Meh.
To me, makeup is makeup.
Just one of those things that some people use and I don't.
Kind of like jewelry.
That's what it is to me.

Too true, and i thought it was a wonderful piece of art whether i agree with makeup or not - i didn't think making a choice was the point of this piece, but i could be wrong. By the way - and please ignore the seeming silliness of this question - what makeup did you use? I can't find anything that covers the skin so well, or changes appearance?

I actually like the image. It has nothing to do with the concept behind it. I just think the photograph in itself is an eye-catching one.

As a woman who wears two faces in my professional and personal life, I rather enjoyed your perspective (and your follow up journal) - what an interesting subject that I remain divided on from day to day. It's so funny: when I was a teen I sought the right and kept the left to myself; nearing 30, I've reached a sort of stasis split between the two. For the purpose of limiting myself to exposure of all those chemicals, I eliminated skin makeup; to appease my vanity I still wear plenty of eye makeup. Either way, you're a beautiful woman who does extraordinary work :D

makeup isnt about being beautiful and hiding your face under pounds of foundation and eyeshadows or whatever. people who use it everyday to "boost" their image are the people that make the makeup industry look bad. it's an art of creating and transforming, so i agree with this.

I think I get what you mean. You were just trying to make a statement, not spark a debate. Although I suppose you might feel a little honored that a debate was sparked by something you did?

I love your work. Please keep posting. :)

i completely agree, being a make-up ARTIST is transforming people sometimes it's even to make them look uglier, or scarier, meaner, or more beautiful. But looking natural without make-up is beautiful as well! :XD: i think we can all say that by looking at you photos!

Sometimes ugly is beautiful, and often makeup is art. Live and let live, if it isn't hurting anyone then why should people make an issue of it.

You have been clear and concise, besides this the importance of make-up in your art is evident and obvious. I'm still surprised, though, that make-up is still an issue, or shaving....mah...so much to work on still...

Every beautiful women are victym of bullying of ugly woman.
If you want have no problem, be ugly.. people will keep you neutral..
If you be beautiful so you will feel the power of envy of others...
What do you choose? Do what you want and let the envy grows or low down your head and keep others calm?

I never wear makeup myself (unless I am doing something very important like a wedding) I think people need to appreciate how I normally look without it so they can be amazed when I actually bother to put some on. I'm also very lazy so blergh not wasting time I could use on other things on makeup. But I can appreciate how hard, time consuming and a wonderful art it can be. Specially Special Effects or fantasy makeup. And your work is amazing!

I am glad you're not someone who raves about makeup nor hates on others for wearing it.
I personally hate makeup as I see it as a mask, but i have many friends who wear it and would never stop anyone from doing what they please with their body.
It's also a gorgeous image. C:
