The emotion in this picture is heart-clenching. I'm not at all your average emotional teenage girl, but this picture speaks to me in a way I cannot convey, in a way that makes me want to cry.
The black and white makes the mood of this picture feel like her world is color-less, her life has been leached of all happyness and now what is left is a frame that she must now carry around.
I think you were smart with how much tear-shed was shown. Too much and it would seem cheesy, no tears and it would just look like a painful-hearted girl, you have just the right amount of wetness to her eyes that it pure hopelessness. . . it does not look faked.
This is a gorgeous photo, I love that its in black and white because it allows the viewer to focus on the emotion she is showing. The focus is great, I love it when portraits have the eyes of the subject perfectly in focus. The eyes being in focus and the fact that she's staring at the camera causes the viewer to feel a connection with her. The hair framing her face plus the fact that photo is zoomed in to only show her and nothing else makes it simple and uncluttered. Overall I love this photo and good job.
Damn, I love this. I wonder, are you okay if I happen to try drawing one of your works? Of course I'll be crediting you Love the emotions you capture through the lens. I could feel the heartache here.
