Image quality is excellent; the model/photographer has chosen a narrow focal plane, and while I always crave a deeper depth of image information the narrowing upon the right eye is effective in focusing the viewer. The use of reds and washed whites plays a delightful contrast together. The implications of the wooden stave echo the style of application and coloration of the makeups used. The lips are a black and red rouged cardiac flatline and eyes shadowed in spikes of rage at hand. Composition: negative spaces of black and white with only the grey shadows of facial planes dappling the white. Eye travel path from focus point in pupil of right eye to pan outward with reds tracking to the brown of the stave and thence to mouth and returning to matched reds of eye orbits; a tender traverse of anger’s release for this viewer. This young woman, as model, as image manipulator, as makeup artist, is a figure of note. Congratulations on once again touching many places within this critic, simultaneously.
I love what you did to mute the pallette and saturate the reds in the frame. It looks like the field-of-view was narrow leaving one (very beautiful) eye in focus. This effect draws the eye back towards the vertical centerline or towards the nose. With all this emphasis on the top half of the image, it might have been interesting to see something reflected in the blade of the knife to draw the eye down a bit or to the left. A small tattoo or perhaps a drop of blood on the shoulder would balance the photo a bit more. The lips and hair color are beautifully matched and add significantly to the work. The emotion on the model's face really adds to the overall impact!! I hope these few words are somehow helpful
You have a very impressive gallery, hime. If I could, I'd lend you a katana, because hamon line would not only enhance the shot and possibly provide other area of focus, but highlight your nick nicely Also nice amount of makeup - not quite covering the freckles.
It's likely a common question, but are you considering branching out and using other models? I'd be interested in your reasoning for either way...
The contrasts used with the bright harsh makeup and the very pail skin is fantastic. The angle used suggests a warrior at the ready, the knife as well. The eyes as well show a force of strength, although maybe you could have used your eyes to show a bit of vulnerability since the rest of the picture is so strong and harsh. I still love the overall feel of it and it reminds me of a Cosplay take on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Keep it up girl I'm loving all your work!
