First, please allow me to say that all of your work is incredible. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but you really do have an amazing eye. I think I may be drawn to this piece partially due to my current project. But even if I wasn't steeped in things that puncture these days, this would have still caught my eye.
I love the way the overall starkness and lack of color is punctuated with that double dose of red - lips, apple. The fingers are are so soft, delicate, caressing the fruit. They make a perfect counterpoint to the anger and destruction of the nails. Brilliant!
That you've chosen to cover the eyes, adds a sense of mystery that increases the overall impact of the piece. I can't help but wonder what is going on in her mind...
Thank you for sharing this and all your work. It is inspiring!

After reading some of the comments I am not sure the intention of this photo is exactly what I took from it, but if you know anything about Christian theology then this picture certainly begins to take on a deeper meaning (at least for me). The apple and nails I see as symbols of both the first sin as well as the price to be paid for that sin in order to attain redemption. The pale and saddened women a symbol of the one who bore that first sin. However the blue veil is a common color associated with the women who bore the Messiah thus leading to redemption. very prophetic in a deeper theological way. again not sure of your intention and if im way off base then I apologize I mean no disrespect to you as an artist. I really do love this picture.
Cristina with out a doubt this has to be one of my most fav shots EVER!!!! I love the mystery of not being able to see the eyes, the paleness of her skin and the red of the apple...very very intoxitcating!
This photo made me thinking. Very interesting. It could mean that the girl is like the apple- so fresh and so clean on the outside but on the inside she is hurt, wounded and not so innocent anymore. At least that's what it means to me, I don't know what was your message with it.
Thank you for your thoughts! Well, the idea (my idea) behind the shot is similar to yours. The apple is a fresh, and sweet fruit, and so the girl represents the apple. That's why she's so pale (pureness). But then she stops being that innocent girl, and is drawn to the modern world. She's blind (so her covered eyes), doesn't know what that world really is, doesn't understand that someone can hurt her. Her apple is now stabbed, poisoned and rusty. The apple actually is childhood. She represents the big step from childhood to 'adolescence' (the worst side of teenage).
