The only problem with this picture is that it's too darn small! You took a simple concept which I'm always a fan of. People tend to over-complicate photography, they think if the scene isn't a busy beehive then it's boring. I prefer this kind of work where the quality relies on the colors and the slightest details. The image is as I mentioned too small to focus on the details so let's look at the colors. This contrast of drab sky and vibrant earth makes for an interesting effect. But there's a twist the model is the opposite of the surroundings. She represents a focus and kindred to the earth while in the same breath prefers to dress like the drab sky. It's an amazing effect jumping out at you a subtle vibrancy. I love it!
I very much like the atmosphere of this piece; however... and I understand that this is a rather unpopular opinion... I think the photo would look significantly better without the girl standing in the center -- the intensity of the background goes a very long way in carrying the ideas and vision behind the work, and I think the composition would flow better without the girl's interruption. I understand that the girl is the main focus of the photograph, but I do think it'd be better without.
